"Secrets and lies. I've lived the entirety of my life wrapped up in subterfuge for one purpose--revenge. Through the years, I lived more as an enigma than a man. For so long, I denied I had a beating heart of my own. Until her. Until she unearthed the starving vessel inside, forced me to acknowledge it, forced me to understand that I'm capable of bleeding the same as any other. For that, we paid. We're still paying. Yet, she demands it still, the useless heart of the ruthless thief and shameless villain she fell for. My fear is, I'm no longer that man. With the lies I've told, the life I've led, my mistakes are beginning to catch up with me, day by day, one by one. This is my last chance, and I have no intention of losing her again, but as the deception of my past starts to unravel and close in, shedding my humanity may be the only thing that can save us both. Maybe it's already too late."--Back cover… (meer)

"She brought direction back to my deadening soul when I lost my way, and she continues to guide me back, a star too bright to ignore, no matter how far I stray."

I've lived the entirety of my life wrapped up in subterfuge for one purpose--revenge. Through the years, I lived more as an enigma than a man. For so long, I denied I had a beating heart of my own. Alright so I have conflicted feelings about this one. It was a lot different from the previous two. For one we finally get two POVs, which was nice I think to be able to understand Tobias. The book did a lot of switching back in Tobias's timeline to show us the events that shaped him and led to the previous books and the way he acted. Also nice. But sometimes these merged back into the present without warning and I was a little confused. I struggled a bit with this one because it started out much slower than the others. I realize this is supposed to reflect the hurt and grief Cecilia has gone through, because once she makes peace with the past things start to pick up.
I felt like I consumed the first two books but until I got to like page 300 in this one I was struggling to continue it. Tobias and Cecilia just seemed so vastly different from the two characters we had seen in the other books. I will say that once this book picked up it had a lot more action and like oh my god moments than I was anticipating. I think it was a good way to wrap up the story and it definitely had some surprise moments that I wish we had gotten more details on. However, that ending... the rainy day... uncalled for ma'am. A great calm down from books 1 and 2, a little less, and I mean little, emotional. Finally got some answers that were fun to learn and a few good laughs! ( )

Good Lord.

30 minutes into reading this book, I had to pause and grab my phone to send my best friend a text telling her that she needed to move this series to the top of her to be read list. I did this not just to recommend a good book but because I needed someone to talk to about how I felt after reading this. I knew within moments that not only was this book special but that it needed to be read by EVERYONE as soon as possible. After just finishing it, I was correct to feel that way.

When the duet was finished, much like any fantastic book, I had the same feelings that I never wanted the book to end but at the same time, I was content in knowing that the book ended in a good place. It is for that reason that I had no idea that I even needed this duet to become a trilogy instead. Now, after reading this, I cannot for the life of me figure out how I didn't know that I NEEDED this book. Getting the chance to see the events of the previous books through Tobias' eyes as well as how they worked through all of the trust issues was an experience in itself. Good Lord, almighty, he is such a delicious man. There is something special in seeing a man, such as him, grovel (if that is even the right word) as he fights for the women who is his life. I cannot count how many times I swooned in regards to him.

Cecilia and Tobias are truly one of a kind and their love story is epic. Yet, this book brings the emotions of their love to a whole new level. It is raw and it hurts. However, it soothes and cleanses at the same time and made me fall even deeper in love with them than I was already. this story and these characters reminded me yet again how these books wound up being in my top 20 of 2020.

I could wax praise forever about not only this love story but for the author. Yet, nothing can truly do either of these things justice except for someone to read the book themselves and discover the amazing gift at prose that this author has at her fingertips. I cannot recommend this series more. ( )

This story with it's perfect descriptions of emotions, love, heartache, good vs evil, loss, betrayal and acceptance, is not for the weak of heart.
I know that many people have objections about many scenes and the plot itself, to those people I would urge to finish the series and think about the bigger picture.

There are certain people in life with whom an individual just connects- with no logic, concept or understanding. They do not have the abhility to reject this connection.
In this particular case Cecelia and Tobias had that connection, even though for her in the initial book, he was portrayed to be the Wolf, the bad guy, the guys keeping her from the men she loved. Yes, men. Yes, Flock gives us a view into the workings of a polyamorous relationship. Yes, it is possible to love different people, differently and still have an equal relationship.

The development of Cecelia as a character, as a woman and as a person who has loved and lost repeatedly is a thing worth reading.
The development of the relationship of Cece and her King- Tobias, is a path less taken.
Most people give up on the idea of a love which makes them question themselves everyday. But they forget that this is the love which makes them thank the universe- for it's presence in their life.

Cecelia and Tobias are truly made for each other. Their matching tempers, their matching need to save the world from greed, their matching bleeding hearts, their matching inner romantic and their love for Dominic King- the brother of Tobias and the man Cecelia loved before meeting Tobias. Cecelia, Dominic and Sean- present the perfect example of young people in love and still fighting the good fight.

The ending leaves me with a big smile.
This book is worth the hype. ( )
