There is a spirit or tone of modern intelligence which investigates all physical science, all philosophy and history, with the view to shut out from the world and from man all notions of the supernatural and the Di vine. There is a tendency, in this age of positivism, to regard all the phenomena of nature and of rational existence in the light of reason and to ignore the prov ince offaith. Rationalism seems, to an alarming extent, to be the prevailing tendency of all phys' ical, historical, philosophical, andrcligiousscience.
