This book was an unexpected beautiful piece. From the very beginning it gripped me hard and sucked me in. It was a ride that I didn’t want to stop, but had to know what would happen next.
Blake takes her job as big sister very seriously and one she will defend for the rest of her life so when she knows her sister is being mistreated by a horrible, evil man she tries to stand up for her family even if her own mother won’t do it. Hutch thinks he knows Blake’s type a spoiled socialite brat that always gets her way so when he sees her going toe to toe with evil itself he does something to protect her but she only sees it as him hating her.
Hutch knew his attraction to Blake was off limits for many reasons but years later he is sent to protect her one more time, the thing he doesn’t know is Blake still harbors hate towards him and won’t make his job easy. Blake may have left her small town and reside in New York now, but her heart hasn’t been into the selfish narcissistic society in a long time so when she is requested to go back to her Uncle’s home and things not adding up after her friend’s death she knows she needs to get her and her sister out.
Hutch and Blake have this intense attraction that is fueled by misjudgments and hate, yet it’s something that burns off the pages and can’t be stopped once it starts. Their back and forth banter is funny and amazing to watch the tension fly. What I really loved too was how Hutch may have had his misconceptions about Blake, but once he got to know her more he knew he was wrong then started to include her more on the investigative things to help solve their problems.
The teamwork and bond they start to form creates something amazing but will they be able to stop their judgments against each other long enough to stop the people coming for them and be able to find their happy forever or will it all crash and burn to nothing? Such a great suspenseful read that keeps you on the edge of your seat while the ages burn up with steam. ( )
