Around page 100 the author gives more specific details of dream symbols. Before that they explain dream analysis is still very misunderstood and debated. They start with some personal history about their own beliefs and life which I think gives better context to the whole book. I do feel I can decipher my dreams a little better after reading it but, not completely or confidently. So many symbols are listed but many are not. They pin different perspectives against each other and do not conform to one method of interpretation. My main take away is that dreams are extremely open to interpretation of the dreamer. Like blood types it is not a one size fits all. However, I still wish it had some practice examples and training to try myself. It was less of a guide and more of a mini history lesson about the background of dream analysis. I found the book to be some what in the middle on what methods to use and less decisive than I expected. Which is okay and still fair because I think the point they are making is that dream analysis is a fickle thing. There were some typos all throughout but, it was still understandable and did not interfere with my understanding. My favorite parts were learning about sleep cycles and how to try to remember your dreams. I found that part to be the most useful in my personal life. But, now that I can remember more dreams, I am still not quite able to analyze them and come to a sure conclusion. Also they say not to eat before bed, but suggest eating blue berries before bed which was confusing and had no explanation. Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. One half star. I couldn't get more than 15% through the book and I had to quit. The author claims to have a doctorate, yet her spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization is worse than that of a second grader. It is a shame; the content is quite interesting. The egregious errors peppering each page just ruins it for me. Picture a wonderful buffet with all your favorite foods, and on every serving dish, a dead mouse. Hey Maria, hire a fourth grader to proofread your book. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Past history of Dream Analysis was interesting, but somewhat sparse. Author kept mentioning a book "10.000 Dream Interpretations" by Pamela Bell as a reference. I may try to find and read this book. Hopefully it helps to describe what my dreams mean and why I am dreaming them. ( )
