The random heart problem in the middle of the story was just a little too random for my liking. Easy read, but I probably won't remember this in another few days. I did like the storyline of knowing how long each relationship would last. That's a really fun storyline. I guess I wanted a little more from that than I did from her heart problems. Worth the listen, it was enjoyable, but nothing earth shattering. ( ) The Problem with leaving a review to later and thinking that letting it percolate will enhance the review is proving troublesome. Acknowledging that this book is about love and missing what you can’t have or thinking something akin to this made this book more relatable. Serle cues us to her thoughts that love is “the belief in something that you cannot see or touch or even explain….but we just know it’s there.” I am not so sure about any of that but it was enough that it had me pondering and admitting that discussion is for another day. There is some mystery, some not so convenient truths, a few cliches and a story that lingers but is difficult to define. Love, desire, happiness, protection, trust - exploring all the things you want out of love and reconciling what you can actually have. What it would be like to be chosen, cherished, loved - everything comes back to that. What you want and what you can have. Epic Love - never doubt that it is worth the fight. HTML:From the New York Times bestselling author of In Five Years and One Italian Summer comes a love story that will define a generation. Being single is like playing the lottery. There's always the chance that with one piece of paper you could win it all. Daphne Bell believes the universe has a plan for her. Every time she meets a new man, she receives a slip of paper with his name and a number on it—the exact amount of time they will be together. The papers told her she'd spend three days with Martin in Paris; five weeks with Noah in San Francisco; and three months with Hugo, her ex-boyfriend turned best friend. Daphne has been receiving the numbered papers for over twenty years, always wondering when there might be one without an expiration. Finally, the night of a blind date at her favorite Los Angeles restaurant, there's only a name: Jake. But as Jake and Daphne's story unfolds, Daphne finds herself doubting the paper's prediction, and wrestling with what it means to be both committed and truthful. Because Daphne knows things Jake doesn't, information that—if he found out—would break his heart. Told with her signature warmth and insight into matters of the heart, Rebecca Serle has finally set her sights on romantic love. The result is a gripping, emotional, passionate, and (yes) heartbreaking novel about what it means to be single, what it means to find love, and ultimately how we define each of them for ourselves. Expiration Dates is the one fans have been waiting for. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
