I particularly liked the French line running through the novel. And I understood the reference because the Dijon garden is named after Darcy. I particularly liked the in-depth portrayal of the relationship between Presser and his young son. ( )

I’m afraid I couldn’t get into this story due to the way the narrative was confusing, flitting all over the place and not understanding where the story was going. With the occasional mention of Paris? I was then reminded the narrator was in France on a school trip. One of the few unfinished books in my retinue. ( )

This was rough. It is very stream of consciousness style but unfortunately I couldn't follow along. It starts with the character leaving, mentions pulling themselves out of something their parents were worried about. Then we are suddenly talking about a bag of cheese and how it smell and how the French eat chocolate bread for breakfast. Then back at the airport?? I just constantly felt like I missed something.

Sometimes the sentence structure doesn't make sense and they aren't using quotation marks for dialogue.
I was intrigued by the Pride and Prejudice connection but besides mentioning the book here and there; I didn't really see it. But I will acknowledge, I couldn't finish.

I found this book both confused and confusing but I suspect a lot of my problems were the result of a bad epub copy that seemed to have been a terrible computer translation of what might originally have been an interesting text. I shall withhold judgement on that basis

Written in a combination of stream of consciousness and narrative style, Muranyi brings Jane Austin’s “Pride and Prejudice” character Mr. Darcy (Presser in this novel) to life through the senses , fantasies, life reviews, emotions, desires, impulses, passions, dreams and loves of Penelope. The voice of the sensitive narrator is in constant contact with the reader as she ages from a shy young girl fascinated by Mr. Presser to a mature woman who loves him. With scenes that remind me of literary surrealism and existentialism in their rapid and impulsive course, the novel is like my own inner Intimate voice that talks to me throughout my days. Filled with historical references from the worlds of art, mythology, stage drama, travel, and film, Penelope entertained and informed me from start to finish bringing her conscious and unconscious experiences to light.
