The first of two similar books. Their styles are similar, with similarly beautiful and funny illustrations and the same affectionate fun poked at birding manuals. (

I bought this this book for me and found I just had to get one for my father, an avid birdwatcher. He was confused at first. We both really enjoyed it. It has great illustrations and descriptions. (

I am not a birdwatcher, indeed I think that there are entirely too many different types of birds and too many of them look alike. That said, I think that this is absolutely hysterical, and the birdwatchers that I know have also found it very funny.

Try giving this to someone as if it were serious and wait to see how long it takes them to figure out the joke. (

Anyone who has not seen this series of bird guides for fictitious birds is in for a real treat. i could not have imagined more unlikely birds, and the text is so typical of birder's way of talking. (
