This is an important book which tells the story of Miss Crandall, who opened her school for African American women despite the odds being stacked against her. Told in sonnet form, the rhymes and flow of the poetry inside will leave the story of Miss Crandall and her students imprinted on the reader's mind for years to come. This book is a book of poems written from the point of view of the students who attended Miss Crandall's school. It goes into detail from first arriving at the school to the hardships that they had to endure to the end when Miss Crandall closes the school as she can no longer protect the students. This is a great book that would be good to use in history class as though it isn't fully factual it is based on truth. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
