Of interest to me is Sanhedrin, folio 44, column 2, about Shimon ben Shetach and the witches of Ashkelon. (on pages 174-5) This was an incredibly long book on nearly all Jewish texts. I found a few pieces of interest which spoke to me directly.. "For one form of uncleanness the soul will be invested with the body of a Gentile, who will (eventually) become a proselyte" makes me wonder exactly what it is that the uncleanness being refered to? Does this mean I really was a Jew in the past, screwed up royally and is that why I am coming back? Another aspect was charity, the most noble is to enable the poor to earn a living. I can see that, this was an issue mentioned in class and I think no one really understands what it is about. Perhaps this is the real difference between Christians and Jews. "Every nation has its special guardian angel, its horoscopes, its ruling planets and stars. But there is no planet for Israel. Israel shall look but to God. There is no mediator between those who are called His children and their Father which is in heaven." "Prayer is Israel's only weapon, a weapon inherited from its fathers, a weapon proved in a thousand battles." geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
