While in science class, the students in Beetle Mcgrady's class are making a food pyramid. They place food that they know under each category. She wanted to start her own food group. She studying and even defended making bugs a food group to her classmates. When they said "yuck, bugs aren't food," McGrady had her books ready to inform them that people eat ants in Australia for protein. While learning about food groups in science, the children learned about the food they already knew about and they learned about new things used as food such as bugs. The teacher made sure to also introduce new foods to his students. Foods with ingredients they had never heard of and some from different cultures. The students were able to learn new things from different areas of the world and incorporate it into their science lesson the food groups. A story of a young girl who longs to be an explorer.. She thinks that by eating bugs she will conquer all and gain the status of a brave leader! When her class explores different countries foods, she is the first to dive into the bugs! I thought this book was very funny and it would be great to incorporate in your classroom when talking about other countries. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

This was a fun read aloud for a unit on insects. A book that was just plain fun to share with a class. ( )
