A nice followup to a unit on Van Gogh. It's definitely for kids who are familiar with Van Gogh--younger kids will not get understand that this is a flight of fancy. Older kids will be itching to get their hands on some art supplies. ( )

Inspirational story that can be shared with students before an art project. Pretty decent story. ( )

In New York City there is a young boy named Bernard who meets an English man who is touring NYC and painting its scenes. They venture all over the city and the man, Vincent, paints where they go. Vincent then takes Bernard to the Museum of Modern Art where he is shown 'The Starry Night.' Bernard was moved by the painting. With this new inspiration Bernard began to draw his own starry night.

Young boy's eyes are opened to art after spending a day with VanGogh.

Illustrations are beautiful, as would be expected. ( )
