Path of Fate is not only a great adventure read it's a fascinating look at the power of fate. This would actually make a good group read as there is lots of material for discussion. I will definitely be seeking out the rest of this series. ( )
I picked up this one out of boredom and because Kristen Britain provided a review on the back cover. Truthfully I didn't enjoy it as a series. The first book is well-written and some of the ideas throughout the series are fairly interesting. However, the series begins to get a little cliche and busy (Dragon Ball power ups anyone?). I'd reccomend this book but not the series. ( )
When you want to live a quiet life and a Goddess decide otherwise, you can refuse you life for a time, but not for long. I found this world interesting, where it's guardians are bounded to animals and live with then closer than with soul-mates. This first book is a good star that grow into something better as the other book comes. ( )
The story itself is very enjoyable. There is adventure, romance, friendship, and betrayal. Some parts are touching while others are tragic. The pacing is even for the most part. This novel does suffer alittle from first book in a trilogy syndrome, there is alot of setup and back-story to cover, but I did not feel that it bogged the story down very much. Overall, a nicely paced light read with well-balanced elements of tragedy and triumph.
This was a random one I plucked from the stacks when browsing for road trip brain candy. Debated for ages over whether I would hate it. It was not as bad as I thought it would be, but it wasn't terribly impressive, either. Just so so, but good enough for its purpose--I'll try the sequels for the road trip. My fantasy tastes are so particular, and I'm so easily put off. Wish I could find more I liked a lot for times like these. ( )
