Did you know humans were not the first to travel in a hot air balloon! Read this book to find out who flew first. Join the first explorers through an almost wordless journey. ( ) Hot air was about the first trip in a hot air balloon told by animals. The animals were a chicken, sheep, and rooster. The entire city of Versailles in France gathered to watch this historical event. I thought the pictures were illustrated well, but I do not care for books that just go off of pictures. This is an enjoyable and slightly informative book about the rumor that the first ever hot air balloon ride was taken by three barnyard animals. This book describes some sticky situations the animals find themselves in while in the air. The illustrations have a lot of detail and are very colorful. Text is repetitive which is enjoyable to young readers. Could be used to then introduce the true history of hot air balloons or the science behind how they work. This book goes through the events leading up to the first flight of the hot air balloon. It was in Versailles in France and thousands of people gathered to see it. Instead of focusing on the two people who invented the hot air balloon, but a chicken, sheep and duck who were the first living creatures to go up in the air.
