This is not one of Douglas and Preston's series. In this book a billionaire hires a man with medical training to help excavate an island owned by the doctor's family. His brother disappeared there years before. ( )
For someone who has watched The Curse of Oak Island show, this was very fun to read. Some of the same real problems they encounter on the show come up in the book as well. ( )
Riptide was a predictable story. Although it tried to be thrilling with the characters chasing each other and terrible weather, it seemed to lack something. Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child usually create a good story. However, in this book the characters were not particularly likeable nor was the setting. Unfortunately only 3 1/2 stars were awarded to Riptide in this review. ( )
