Let the Drum Speak is historical fiction about the first people of the Americas. This is the second in a series of stand alone books about She Who Remembers, a shaman from a particular clan in the midwest of North America. In this book, her mate goes to the city of the Great Sun to trade. He leaves with the Queen of the northern city, leaving She Who Remembers stranded in the City of the Great Sun, fighting off the advances of the Great Sun, and trying to prove that she is not a witch. This book was meandering, the story wasn't taunt and the writing was not good. A much better series in this genre is the "People of ..." series by Michael and Kathleen Gear.
