"The Gospel of Mark is not a biography of Jesus," writes D. Edmond Hiebert, "but rather a delineation of the 'good news' of salvation made available through the suffering Servant of Jehovah. The picture presented is in harmony with the declared purpose of Jesus that 'the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.'" Following a "clause-by-clause" approach, this commentary closely scrutinizes the text of the Gospel but without losing sight of the overall thrust and purpose of the book. The commentary also gives attention to the meaning of the Greek original but does so in a manner that is understandable to the student who is unfamiliar with the language. The goal is to help the reader understand and appreciate the "good news" that Mark proclaims. - Back cover. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
