I enjoyed this book because of the language, illustrations and the characters. I think the language is very precise and to the point which I think it good for the readers. The author also uses descriptive words. For example she writes, "My dear Toot," said the ancient aunt," by using the word ancient, the readers can understand that the aunt is very old. I also liked the illustrations because I think the author does a good job of showing action in the pictures. When Puddle goes to go look for the perfect Christmas tree, she shows him walking up to the tree and she shows the wind blowing Puddles scarf. Another example is when Puddle makes fruit cake, the author uses light and airy line to show the movement from each illustration to the next. I also enjoy the character Toot because the author always depict him as the very carefree, go-lucky guy who goes where the wind takes him. On the contrary, Puddle is the more introverted and cautious of the two who prefers to stay at home. I think the author did a good job of describing and keeping their personalities consistent in each of her books. I also like how two pig who are total opposites, are best friends. I think the big picture of this story is to have a little faith when things get tough, because they all have a way of working themselves out. ( ) As energy allows, I'm sorting through my Children's Illustrated library and placing books in order. When I found this one, I had to stop and read it. It is a simple, delightful tale of two friends who very much want to continue to traditional of spending together. But, when one is visiting a great Aunt in Scotland, and a sudden storm appears, all flights are cancelled. Somehow, he vows to get home to his friend, and he does with great celebration. This is the cutest Children's Christmas book that I have ever read! Having family and friends together is important to everyone, especially friends Toot & Puddle. With one visiting a great-great-aunt in Edinburgh and the other home in Boston, only a miracle can bring them together in time for Christmas. This is the perfect snuggle read for anytime. The pictures and story will make you smile and be full of delight. I highly recommend it! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
