I think my trouble with this one is that I just really don't like the present tense narration. I mostly skimmed this, and probably won't bother with the next in the series. ( ) If you read this, come talk to me about Gabry. Because while the story had it's moments, I spent most of it wanting to strangle her and feed her to the unconsecrated in pieces. She drove me batty. I still think the world was pretty cool though. And there was a bit near the end with a bridge that I really loved and that's stayed with me since I finished it. So not a total loss. I must admit that I didn't think this book would be better than The Forest of Hands and Teeth, but it was so much better!! It starts out even more slow than the first book and takes longer than the first book to get going, but once it does, it's so so good!! I love the plot twist in this concerning Gabry. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series =) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

HTML: Gabry lives a quiet life. As safe a life as is possible in a town trapped between a forest and the ocean, in a world teeming with the dead, who constantly hunger for those still living. She's content on her side of the Barrier, happy to let her friends dream of the Dark City up the coast while she watches from the top of her lighthouse. But there are threats the Barrier cannot hold back. Threats like the secrets Gabry's mother thought she left behind when she escaped from the Sisterhood and the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Like the cult of religious zealots who worship the dead. Like the stranger from the forest who seems to know Gabry. And suddenly, everything is changing. One reckless moment, and half of Gabry's generation is dead, the other half imprisoned. Now Gabry only knows one thing: she must face the forest of her mother's past in order to save herself and the one she loves. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
