A brave little boy named Hal stands up to a hungry (sorry, SUPER HUNGRY) dinosaur who threatens to eat him, his parents, and his dog. Once the dino is tamed, Hal's mom treats the hungry dino to an enormous spaghetti dinner and everything is settled amicably.

I liked this because it's fun, but it also shows pretty successful conflict resolution in action. The dino apologizes and cleans up, nobody gets eaten, and they leave friends.

I also really liked the illustrations--they're cute and add lots of great detail to the story. They're kind of crayon-ish, which I really like because it's the medium a lot of kids work in themselves. It's friendly.

If you're going to read this aloud, make sure you've got your dino "GRRRRR" down--there's a lot of it. Probably best for Kindergarten and 1st grade. ( )

A delightfully simple story of the appearance of a Super Hungry Dinosaur and its challenger, a little boy called Hal who politely refuses to be eaten and defends his mother, father, and dog. Together they truss the dinosaur up until it submits, then they solve the problem together by feeding the dino a Super Hungry Dinosaur Dinner. The Super Full Dinosaur thanks them politely and runs off. ( )

Hal and his dog Billy have to outwit the Super Hungry Dino before it eats them or Hal's parents! They not only avoid being eaten, but tame the dino in the process. The dino cleans up after himself and then eats some spaghetti, becoming the Super Full Dino. Cute!
