Seventeen years ago Larry Marder stopped publishing new Beanworld stories. I imagined that that was the lot; that there would be no more wonderful monochrome masterpieces from his very special creation. For almost ten years I had revelled in each addition to his oeuvre and I would continue to buy each reprinting because these reprised my pleasure. And now we have the first new material since that cessation. It is as delightful as ever. It still evokes a world of affection and gentle conflict like no other. There is no comic strip like Beanworld and I cannot recommend it too highly. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)Tales of the Beanworld (Dark Horse TPB Vol. 3)
Fifteen years in the making, Remember Here When You Are There! completes the Springtime' cycle of Beanworld stories, chronicling the season in which the perfect harmony of the Beanworld is interrupted for the first time in memory. Larry Marder's Beanworld is a most peculiar comic book experience. Inspired by equal parts Jack Kirby, Native American Mythology, Marcel Duchamp, and Robert Crumb, Beanworld has delighted readers from grade school to grad school for more than a generation.' All ages should enjoy this mind-trip. Many of the panels are wordless, letting you interpret as you will. My favorite characters are the tiny Cuties and the never-speaking Notworm. The expressive Boom’r Band musicians are another fave.
I liked this graphic novel because it is something I can return to again and again and still be entertained. ( )
