Robin has everything a girl could ever want. Thanks to her mother— the internationally beloved talk show host Mimi Schwartz— she's got the money, the means and the connections to live a life others only dream of. So why, then, does Robin choose to spend her days alone in a dark room, watching endless reruns of You, You and Mimi? It's only the bizarre discovery of an old high-school ring that propels her to action. Robin follows the ring's mystery from New York City to a tiny Nova Scotian fishing village, where she at last finds love, the truth of her own background— and the shocking secret that helped make her mother a star.… (meer)

Clever, humorous, romantic, wonderfully written. Teen girls and many women will enjoy the story of Robin's search into her famous TV-personality mother's past (think Oprah) and ultimately herself. The soap-opera-ish plot twists, turns, and amuses. Highly recommended. ( )

Not Suitable for Family Viewing By Vicki Grant
talks about a girl that has a rich and perfect life on the outside because of her famous mom
and how Robin finds out things from her mom that wasn't even mentioned about . Robin has a
perfect and rich life because of Mimi Schartz , her famous mom that's a host of a very popular
television show . So even though Robin has a great life , the only things he likes doing are eating
junk food and watching reruns of her mother's TV show . But one day , Robin finds a Ring , hidden
by her mother which raises questions like how her mother got so famous in NYC when her life
all started in Port Minton . All because of this mystery , Robin decided to get off his lazy butt and start to do a lot of research about
her moms history , doesn't give up, and soon discovers many interesting things .

This is a story about a rich girl who has a famous mom and having the girl tring to figure out how her mom 's name wleather is it's mimi or rosie...
The setting of the story is mostly in port minton where Robin searches for her clues of her mom's past before she was famous. There are also parts of story where she was in her bedroom watching her mom's show in the begging. One of the funny part was where antia was ranting about what she should do after she leaves. And a part of setting where she was in the dark raining night outside all scared .There also parts where Robin is inside the libaray in port minton fliping though the magazines for infomation about her mom.

This is a really altractive book because of the hook on the back of the book where it said : " and the shocking sercert that helped make her mother a star"

Vicki Grant's Not Suitable Not Suitable For Family Viewing was an amazing book. This book has everything in it. It has romance, mystery, and much more.
The setting in the story is nothing like the setting in the real world. The setting i am going to describe is Port Minton. Port Minton is a less populated place and everyone knew each other there. Not many exciting things happen at Port Minton.
From the story i figured out that the environment is pretty much either sunny or dark since it is either at night, in the morning, or at daytime.
In the book they really don't say the exact time, but it happens at different parts of the day. For example when Robin goes to the library; it's mostly around 3:00. I think that Port Minton may be a state( I am not sure).
I recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery and romance together with a very good twist at the end. ( )

Vicki Grant's "Not Suitable for Family Viewing" is an awesome book with very unique characters.
The main character is a girl called Robin. Robin has a good life, she gets everything she possibly wants, since her mother is a television host for the show "You, you and Mimi". But why does she keep watching the show when she doesn't like it?
Robin is a selfish and stubborn character at the beginning of the story, she stays home and does nothing but watch her mother's show. But after finding some photos and a ring under mom's chair, she becomes a determined and a curious character as she travels to Nova Scotia to find out about her mother's past. But Robin is a confident girl and eventually finds out the truth.
I really liked this book because this is a very different story compared to other books i have read and it was the best mystery as well. ( )

“Part mystery and part family drama, this book is an altogether enjoyable story of discoveries – self-discovery, the discovery of long-hidden family secrets and the discovery of numerous truths, both of a deeply personal and also an utterly universal nature.”

“Nicely comic girl-meets-guy scenes, followed up with a satisfyingly convoluted mystery.”

Not Suitable for Family Viewing is an excellent teen novel with interesting characters and a complex plot tinged with both romance and mystery. The whole is peppered with Grant’s wonderful sense of comedy. There are places in the book where I actually giggled out loud. The humour does not come from put-downs or “smartass” remarks but simply Robin’s own ability to laugh and to convey humour through her tongue-in-cheek descriptions of people, places and situations...
This novel may be entitled Not Suitable for Family Viewing, but it is definitely suitable for anyone to read and is virtually guaranteed to please! Highly recommended.
