The Who Would Win series is fantastic and heartily approved by elementary aged students as is evidenced from their consistent absence on the shelves of my classroom library. The format uses many of the best features of informational text -- and is laid out so each page compares the features of each of the starring animals leading to the end of the book where the "winner" is revealed. This book starts out by introducing the two different types of bears. It talks about the attributes of the polar bear and the grizzly bear, with little word bubbles the book gives definitions of subject specific words and gives fun facts about the different bears. At the end of the book there is a scenario that has the two animals fight each other using the facts we have just learned about and a winner is determined.
