Grandmaster Jacob Aagaard won the British Championship at his first and only attempt. He is the only author to have won the Boleslavsky Medal as well as the ACP, Guardian, ECF and ChessCafe Book of the Year awards. He trains grandmasters from four continents and has helped players win school toon meer tournaments, national titles, as well as international opens, the US Championship, the World Cup, the Candidates and two Olympiad gold medals. toon minder

Aagaard is rapidly becoming one of my favorite chess writers. This is not a simple tactics guide, but a deep analytical guide to attacking chess in dynamic positions--and a highly readable and entertaining one to boot! The only drawbacks are a number of typographical and editing errors (misspellings, tense agreements and the like) and a number of mislabeled diagrams (and analysis diagrams not being marked, game diagrams marked as analysis diagrams), and the exceedingly narrow gutter margins. Regardless, this book is highly recommended, enjoyable, and thought provoking.… (meer)

Aagard put me off a bit at first, as he's something of a pompous yutz. But then I came to like that about him. His insight helped with that considerably. And even at his worst he's nowhere near as annoying as Silman.
