As a Dominant in the BDSM scene one of the hardest things to learn and understand is the concept of training a submissive. I remember when I was new asking people about it and the answer was always the same. Every Dom is different so they all train a sub differently. Which was no help at all. I was never even offered the most basic idea of what training might entail. So, I spent years, clueless to this aspect of D/s interactions. I have since found the occasional article on the subject but Miss Abernathy's Erotic Slavehood was first. Nothing I have read since has compared. Although written with the intention of training a slave, it can easily be adapted to train a submissive. It's simple and user friendly. Yet it still covers all the important information. As someone that had a number of years experience in BDSM before I read the book, Miss Abernathy still managed to surprised me with the thoughtfulness of some of the activities she has included in her training. All in all I thought it was an excellent book.… (meer)

Not a book a personally needed to read because of my lifestyle, but as it is a subject with much misunderstanding, I'd deem this book as thoughtfully written with tact and straightforwardness. No taboo schoolchild giggling here.

This book is the theory of D/s and the Workbook (which I also reviewed) is the practice. I enjoyed this book because the author had clearly thought about her subject and wasn't just regurgitating the same spiel about power exchange. Also, the book makes it clear that there isn't any generic method of training submisives, and each trainer, as well as each trainee, is unique. A wonderfully written book about erotic power exchange that is a must own.
