So there are good and bad about this book. So starting with what I liked about the book and series. It was certainly fast paced, action packed, and full of adventure. It kept entertained for the most part and was a real page turner. The character were unique and sweet and easily loveable.

The not so great is also the pace while fast paced, it feel very forced. Forcing the book to move forward. But for me the worst part was the lack of norse mythology. Although its a main center of the book. It focused more on danger, magic, and adventure of the mythology than on the story of the mythology which for me was disappointing. For anyone not familiar already with the myths it would be easy to get lost. Also I found the ending to be less than satisfying.

All in all I think its a cute series and a great intro for children into the realm of fantasy genre but not really worth ever having to re-read. If it had not been for the fact that I read the first two I never would have read this book. I just couldn't leave the series unread.… (meer)

The second book of the series was in my opinion better than the first.
Its still a fast paced, action packed fantasy adventure with lots of magic and norse mythology.
However, unlike the first book I found this book to be not TOO fast. It gave me time to really digest what I was reading and hence able to immerse myself in the story.

It is definitely aimed toward children in the preteen/teen age but I still found a lot to be enjoyed about this book. Where I was expecting something similar to the Percy Jackson it did fall a bit short for me, but then I thought about the book from the age it was written for and realized how great it is. Easy to follow and enjoy.

This book was great. Gave so much more depth to each to of the characters by each of them having there own quest to accomplish and issue to overcome. Even Sam.
I love the romance developing between Keely and Leo and I think Sam might be getting jealous but I'm not sure. I would be interesting and great to see how that plays out in the next and final book.
Also with the appearance of Loki now. I'm sure he will be our main villian in the next book. But what about the remaining witches? Is Endura and Odin truely dead? I have so many questions. But I am hopeful that the last book answers them all as it wraps up this fun series. … (meer)

I did truly enjoy this book. It reminded me a bit as a cross of Percy Jackson and the Chronicles of Narnia with a tiny but of the Inheritance series thrown in. It was fun and easy to care about the characters.
Downsides are the writing is a bit simplistic even for a young adult genre. It was too fast pace. If my mind was distracted even a little I would find the book in the middle of action or find it was already over and I never even saw it coming.
And although the story as a whole was very engaging it does take a little bit before I could get hooked.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys young teen style fantasy and norse mythology books.… (meer)
