When I pick up a book that has male pregnancy in it I know that it's time to suspend all beliefs that I have because reality has been tossed out the window. That said, I enjoyed this first book in The Marriage Groups series. The world building took up a lot of space in this story so I'm hoping that the next book will dig into the meat of the series. I felt the spin put on the old Sodom and Gomorrah myth was a good jumping off place for this piece of polyamorous fantasy. Keep in mind that this story is fantasy fiction used as an escape for a while and not high literature. The god Andalusia was a bit of a bother but then the royal marriage group weren't exactly the sharpest knives in the draw so perhaps they did need Andalusia's constant guidance. Nevin, Corbin, Gaige are very likable characters but also very cliche as hot but dumb gay men. I felt that being the rulers of the planet, the trio would have been afforded a little more intelligence especially since they had the wisdom of the prophesy in their hands. Elian was a much more forgivable character in that his schooling and experiences were lacking. The way that he used his position to make some changes in society was well done. Elian was really the brain of the group when it came down to taking action. I am still not sure why Andalusia decided to mingle the two sexes now when they had been doing fine for thousands of years. Again, this is escapism fantasy fiction so try not to take this story too seriously. When you boil it all down and overlook some flaws, this was quite an enjoyable read and a good beginning to what I hope is a much better series.… (meer)

Kelly Jeter is a gorgeous, witty and sexy man, now he just has to believe it. Kicked out of thee house at sixteen by his homophobic parents, Kelly found safety and a home with his Besties. Now at thirty, Kelly is still an insecure and terribly shy virgin. Amy and Krystal are still and always will be his besties. Amy and Krystal are in a marathon down in Asheville, N.C. when the girls introduce Kelly to a mutual friend Hawk Caliarchi. Kelly can't believe that anyone as hot and hunky as Hawk would be interested in him so when Hawk asks Kelly out to dinner all Kelly can do is have an asthma attack.
What a funny and sweet short story this was. Kelly was a wonderful character who I got to know well as he narrates the story from his POV. Amy, Krystal and Hawk were great secondary characters even though they are not as fleshed out as Kelly. I loved the way Mr. Alexander would take Kelly inside his own head where his imagination would run wild. The scene with Hawk and Kelly going at in the back seat of the little BMW was hilarious. This is the first of Mr. Alexander's books that I have read but it won't be the last. His writing style is brilliant as he sucks the reader right into the story. I found it very refreshing that the hunky guy was just as flawed and hurt as the geek guy was. Not many stories have the suave, hunk getting his heart broken. Some things in the story were rushed but the book was only 44 pages long. A quick, easy read that left my smiling at the HEA ending, I suggest you pick up a copy and find out just how Kelly and Hawk save each other.

Dakota is the story of Dakota Sevion and his mate, Nishon ‘Nimo’ Moore, who has a son Isiah, also known as ‘Zay.’ The story is told in told in third person through the eyes of both Dakota and Nimo.

Dakota is a doctor and one of ten vampire brothers. Some of these brothers are also doctors, others not. In this book, Dakota meets his mate, or sufletul pereche, Nimo. In this series of books, vampires must bond with their mates within two weeks or they will die of thirst. In Dakota’s case, it needs to be within a week which is explained in the story.

I enjoyed the characters in the book, although I think that there was too much description about every brother and every friend of Nimo’s. I don’t think that much detail was needed about them or their clothes. It probably would have been nicer to leave some mystery until each brother’s personal story happened. Isiah was a fun kid. Usually I find kids in stories annoying but Zay didn’t annoy me, although sometimes I found his speech and behavior that of a child and at others, too old for his age. There is also an evil vampire named Razvan, who will be prominent in all the stories.

Some of the mates to the other brothers were introduced and it’ll be fun reading how their relationships develop. Although I have to say, poor Michigan and Lucas! This story has a cliff-hanger ending and it’s about Michigan and his mate Lucas. I can’t wait to read the next book.

There were a few things that bothered me in this book. Those were the repeated use of the same word or phrase within the same paragraph or within paragraphs of each other. The other thing was a repetitious thought that a character may have expressed earlier in the book that was rehashed too often throughout the book. I believe more, or better, beta readers and editors would solve this issue. The formatting was good in the story however, which made it easy to read.

Dakota is an uncomplicated, quick read and I thought it was a great topic and plot for a series of books. I can always count on this author to give me an entertaining read with a bit of angst and the HEA’s I love. I had fun reading this story. I give Dakota, 3 Stars

Ethan’s Earl is the second book in the series, ‘Wilgrin Chronicles,’ the first book being ‘Mickey’s Duke.’ This story is told in third person through the eyes of Ethan Doughtery and Alexander Bartolomby, the Earl of Durchester.

Ethan’s Earl was a quick, fun read. I was looking forward to reading it after I finished the first book in the series. I would almost call this a fairy tale with its alternate reality and magical feel. I liked the Regency style world the author created, and the different ‘abilities’ that Ethan’s race had.

The story is very fast paced with one thing happening after the other. It was probably a bit too fast for me, I usually like stories and relationships to progress more slowly, but that is personal preference. This story can be read as a stand-alone because the previous situations in the first book were not mentioned in depth in this one. I wish they had been, because I think it would have led to more understanding of what was happening to Ethan, Mickey, the Duke and the Earl. As it was, even though I had read the first book and knew what to expect, I felt that if someone read this book first by itself, they could feel a bit lost as to why certain things happened.

Ethan has a tendency to get himself in trouble, that’s how he met Alexander, the Earl. It was lust at first sight between the two and there’s a reason why, it’s a theme that runs through the series but I won’t spoil it. But, despite his troubles, Ethan is a survivor and lands on his feet.

Alexander is completely smitten the first time he lays eyes on Ethan and when Ethan goes his own way after they meet, Alexander spends a very long time searching for him. Alexander is quite powerful in terms of influence, but prefers not to lead as lavish a lifestyle as his friend the Duke.

An unexpected event links Ethan and Alexander together in the story that neither of them suspected. This is one area I wish the author had expanded upon. I would have liked to find out more about what happened to Ethan, his feelings and what sort of operation was being run.

I really liked the secondary character, Ice, and I can’t wait until the author writes his and Willy’s tale. *hint*

One thing really bothered me with this story. It would have benefited with a good editor and beta. There were quite a few redundant words used within the same paragraph or within consecutive paragraphs. There were also times that the wrong character’s name was used. I think the issue with SPAG was the largest problem.

Evan’s Earl was a fun, fast, entertaining read. But for me, there were too may SPAG errors and it cut down on my enjoyment. However, I will read books that continue with this series. I give this story 3 Stars.
