A Dales Walk door Bob Allen
This text follows a seven-day walk through some of England's most beautiful scenery, taking in Wensleydale, Whitsundale and Swaledale, with high-level and low-level variations. There are also circular one day walks along the route.
Based on the intriguing map that Peter Linney produced (for "The Official Wainwright Gazetteer") of all the fells and routes of ascent described by Wainwright in his seven "Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells", Bob Allen has mapped 27 high-level walks in the eastern half of the Lake District (covering books 1-3 of the "Pictorial Guides"). Each walk is described by Bob Allen and made all the more entertaining by his inclusion of comments direct from Wainwright. Each walk is illustrated with Bob's photographs, and Peter Linney has produced the maps, gradient diagrams and specifications of time, height gained, etc.… (meer)
A companion volume to "Walking the Ridges of Lakeland" covering books 1-3. Thirty walks are described covering the southern, northern, north-western and western areas of the Lake District. Gradient profiles and tables give distances and heights of ascent for every walk.
This work contains a collection of walks within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Howgill Fells and Nidderdale. The text includes information ranging from compass bearings to where to find refreshment places. Each walk is rated for overall quality and is accompanied by a clear map.
