Korte biografie
Barbara J. Miller started writing romances because she was running out of reading material and all her copies of her Georgette Heyer novels were becoming dog-eared. By day she works as a business analyst; by night she runs a retirement home for aged horses, dogs and cats. On the week-ends she spends a lot of time in Regency England, creating heroes and heroines to fight the Napoleonic Wars, shock London society, and set the countryside in an uproar. Her accomplice is her computer-expert husband Don, who is one of her biggest fans.

Barb admits to enjoying the research as much as the writing, and has the books to prove it. France used to be in the dining room and England in the living room. Now that she has taken over the upper story of their old farmhouse as an office at least all the books are one floor. This saves a tremendous amount of time when she is trying to confirm an obscure fact in the middle of the night. Under the name Laurel Ames she produced eight Regency-era historicals for Harlequin, one of which was nominated for a Rita in 1994. Now, she writes as Barbara Miller. She is a member of the Western PA Chapter of Romance Writers of America and also edits The Laurel Wreath newsletter for them. You may email her at scribe@cvzoom.net.

Great Author but I think this book is quite boring ... First 3 chapters and I can't wait to close it and end my misery ... The idea is there but the sequence of the story is a little messy ... It was very disappointing ...

Great Author but not too thrilled about the sequence of this story ... it seems that I was half way to the end of the story when it started getting exciting ... I would say that this is a "Good Read" and nothing more ...

Fluffy, but fun. I've read the first chapter or so before - I remember the 'welcome' he got from his stepmother - but never read the rest. It is quite thoroughly weird and convoluted, with misunderstandings galore - but I still enjoyed it. The characters are very solid and believable, and while secrets are being kept the reasons make sense to me. Though it was annoying the way they kept overlooking Miranda - I knew what she was up to. Thomas is sometimes a trifle too mature for his age - he sounds like a 9 or 10-year-old at times - but I suppose he might have the words without the understanding. I really like both Judith and Evan, and I love Bose. Angel's an idiot, and so is Helen in the opposite direction. And Terry, and...hmmm, all of them at one time or another. A bad childhood and conveniently lost memories, a broken family that, more or less, ends up happy - the kids are going to be interestingly related, though. Grandchild is also niece/nephew, half-sib is also niece/nephew... and the assorted half-sibs. I don't know if she actually wrote Helen and...Lord Mountjoy (I don't see that his first name is ever used), but it would make a good story. Beseiged, maybe. I'll have to look for it.… (meer)
