I bought this book, and the previous one in the series, because I was curious to see how a writer from Sweden (the country where I live now) would tackle 17th-century Genoa (the city I come from). Unfortunately, this side of the book was a real disappointment: apart from a couple of clichés (harbour city with tight alleys), and a few family names, the author didn't care about providing any details about the city at all.
Apart from that, the story was entertaining, though quite light and with some possible misconceptions about how the plague was perceived around that era.
But still, I enjoyed reading this, so... no complaint.… (meer)
