If you're a beginner, this book is an absolute godsend. It strips away the unnecessary astrological theories and focuses on the essentials. His descriptions of the three outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) are infused with sharp perceptivity to the "inner environment",, which will appeal to those looking for personable advice, rather than the dry, intellectual discussions or mystical, woolly explanations that merely contribute to the incitation of modern skepticism. The chapters on progressions and transits are also an eye-opener, and its non-fatalistic presentation will encourage readers to look at these cycles of pain and confusion as lessons for self-development, and not as events that occur randomly, or 'bad luck' to pin the blame on.

Though the chapters here are actually quite in-depth, this book feels like I'm only getting a tantalizing taster of his awesomeness. I'm definitely tempted to read more of his books, if I can get them somehow...

An interesting book on the importance of the outer planets and their relation to karma. Arroyo excels at explaining abstract concepts such as karma in a way that’s understandable to everyone, though it did take me some time to get used to his rather formal writing style. I found the chapters on Saturn transits and aspects to the outer planets particularly insightful. There are few astrology books that put this much emphasis on the outer planets and are able to explain their energies in a refreshing way, and I appreciate Arroyo’s insights very much. However, Arroyo is an avid user of the Astrological Alphabet - an oversimplified concept of the astrological houses in attempt to make astrology more accessible - and this affects his credibility. I also didn’t think the chapter on Edgar Cayce’s readings added much. All in all though, this is a must-have if you want to learn more about the outer planets and are open to a more spiritual outlook on astrology.… (meer)

This was written before the internet existed. Otherwise, the advice for astrology professionals and reflections on the practice of astrology remain timely and useful, for the most part.

Exceptionally good on the effects of the Moon, Venus and Mars in the individual chart. The depth and clarity with which these are covered makes it easy to see how two people might be compatible or incompatible based on the sign placement of these planets, although this book doesn't focus on interaspects.
