This is a nice introdcution to the writings of Owen Barfield. Surprisingly, he was an anthroplogist among the more naturally devout Christians, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Charles Wiliams, the other three major writng members of the Inklings. The Inklings met toether regualarly at pubs in Oxford in the pre-World War II period, and during the war. They also had an appreciation of fantasy and mythi elements in their own writings, although this was somewhat minor for Barfield. This is a good book to get a somewhat different look at the Inklings group… (meer)

Some of the linguistic episodes in this book have since become chestnuts, but it was a pleasant read and reading the themes chapter by chapter was enjoyable.
