Miranda Birch

This book is the perfect example of why characterization is so important in the stories. Without proper characterization, a reader doesn't attach to the character. And in this book, not even slight attempt was made to build the main characters even slightly. And not just that we lack knowledge of all of her background, we know nothing of her mentality. What's even worse, we don't even know even basics of the main character's physique. It's really surprising, because the appearance and physique of several of the other characters was described. Only the main character was omitted. Hence, with no attachment with the main character, and not knowing anything about the reason of anything, all we're left with scenes after scenes after scenes after scenes after scenes. I know ridiculous this sounds. But this is exactly how it feels when we read this book, only that each scene is comprised of hundreds of words. Two stars only because a few scenes were nicely 'harsh'. But the impact of rest of the boring stuff is so enormous that I would highly recommend avoiding this book, especially if you are fan of Miranda Birch.… (meer)
