Tracy Bowell

I picked up this book while looking for an introduction to critical thinking, something that would cover the most basic skills and lacks thereof. It's not exactly a pageturner and occasionally tends towards lond-windedness, but otherwise I did find it perfectly suitable for my purposes. The chapter on rhetorical ploys and fallacies was particularly useful and seemed to me the most interesting. Overall, I wished there had been some more extreme examples from 'taboo' subjects such as politics and religion, although I did appreciate their apparent purpose of not catering to any specific group of critical thinkers.… (meer)
