Twice A Broken Breath by Lisette Brodey

Liam's life changes in one instant, when he realizes his wife Carly and Daughter Rayelle are gone. Bank accounts emptied and a note by Carly telling him she is fleeing the country and not to inform police. Add to it, their twenty year old son has been out of touch for months.

He does not heed her warning and sets out on the most stressful, dangerous twenty-four hours of his life. Traveling from New Jersey to the rain-soaked streets of New York City, he searches for his family and for unanswered questions that have lain dormant for years.

The Story moves at a fast pace with intense moments, twisting and turning along the way. Liam is very likable making his journey more compelling. I was on edge as tensions arise and dangerous situations occur, hoping he can find his daughter before it is too late.

The plot thickens as secrets slowly surface, had me yearning to learn more. I was pulled in from the start (and) could not let go until the satisfying end. Lisette Brodey knows how to pull you in deep and not let go.

Overall I found TWICE A BROKEN BREATH very enjoyable. I highly recommend to all. A true five-star read.

All That Was Taken by Lisette Brodey

John Hennessey buys a cottage on the California coast in the sleepy town of Teal Beach. After eight years in solitude on Catalina Island due to unwanted circumstances, John feels he must move on.

There he meets Sunny Harrison owner of Teal Beach Sundial Inn. They connect on many levels with a deep mutual attraction, yet still (both are) hesitant to trust so easily.

Soon their pasts will come to present as new guests check into the Hotel with questionable motives. Ominous people with ill intent have Sunny and John on guard as danger lurks among them.

An original story moving at a steady pace. Attention to detail, well developed characters, engaging dialog, had me engrossed from the first page. Tension arise, with twists, turns and plenty secrets, had me on edge of my seat. Just when I thought I had it figured out I was hit with "Wow ! I didn't see that coming" moments.

Overall I found ALL THAT WAS TAKEN thrilling, thought provoking, emotionally charge good read.

*NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
I write characters as I hear them speak to me. Some of these stories contain non-gratuitous expletives and sexual references. This book also contains several situations that may be triggering to some readers. If this is not to your liking, please don't read this book. Thank you.

THE WAITING HOUSE: A Novel in Stories by Lisette Brodey

Once a beloved Hotel, but now apartments which serves as a special place. Each resident is waiting, waiting for a loved one, for answers, for purpose.

Among the guests is Ava Elisabeth, now in her 80's (She) has returned home. Darah, also the owner of this establishment, is struggling with her relationship with her Mother (Millicent).

Kenny, Alejandro, Fiona, Carolyn and Lee have come there as well. Each one has their own reason to be there, some just don't know why. (But) anything can happen in The Waiting House.

A fascinating story with interesting characters, captivating and engaging plot. The perfect mix of emotions; suspense, mystique, humor, secrets (revealed), ghostly encounters and much more.

Lisette Brodey knows how to grab your attention and not let go. I truly enjoyed THE WAITING HOUSE: A Novel in Stories and recommend to all.

The Sum or Our Sorrows by Lisette Brodey

The story revolves around the Sheppard family. Lily, Char and Willow just lost their mother in a tragic auto accident. Their Father (Dalton) expects the eldest daughter (Lily) to take care of her younger sisters. This puts Lily in a no win situation, she wants to be loyal to her family, yet she wants to grow and move on with her adult life. Being a young adult faced with this obligation is definitely taking a toll on her in every way imaginable.

Char the middle daughter is a bit rebellious, she goes through a lot at a young age. Willow the youngest, is wise for her years. She seems to be adjusting, yet she is also struggling with her new life. Dalton has a hard time adjusting to the death of his wife and has some unrealistic expectations. The death of Abby Sheppard has greatly impacted the entire family.

An original story that moves at a steady pace, emotionally charged, engaging, and at times quite intense. The characters are well developed. I was able to relate to what each person was going through, I felt as if I were part of the family.

Overall I found The Sum of our Sorrows very enjoyable. It definitively had all the feels; Family, friendship, grief, healing, hope, love and survival. I highly recommend to Young Adult* & Adult readers.

*I feel 16+ due to some sexual content and language
