I enjoyed this addition to the Cat Star series. I liked both the hero and the heroine. There were about 4 sex scenes and if you've read any of the rest of the series you know those are over the top weird raunchy and dripping wet. But the best part of this story is that it has a real solid sci fi plot. Even better was the world building. The three planets involved all were very vividly imagined and described. I especially loved the commercial planet where the air was filled with subliminal messages and pheremones intended to convince you that you needed whatever "they" were selling. You had to keep chanting "don't want it. don't need it" in order not to spend yourself destitute. A totally cool sci fi extrapolation of hard sell techniques. Secondary characters were a hoot but did not take over the story. Not great literature but good fun. True love, snard and sci fi.… (meer)

This is my guilty pleasures series. This is my favorite of the series so far. The heroine is the only known Zetithian female. Because she was rescued and raised on Earth she knows nothing about her own race. She doesn't understand her hardwiring as an alien. When she meets Trag, a Zetithian male she doesn't understand her odd response to him. Neither one of these two fall in love at first site, which I liked. He is in love with his brother's wife and although he wants his own mate, Micayla seems too much trouble and she doesn't seem to really like him so he just leaves her alone which neither of them understand is not how Zetithian mating is supposed to work. It's kind of a blind leading the blind thing as neither one is knowledgeable about the customs of their race since their world has been destroyed.

This book was pretty well written and the plot made sense especially since we finally find out why the planet was destroyed. They do eventually fall in love but it takes them awhile to grow into each other. So the romance was well done. The scenes where he realizes he loves her and tries to tell her while protecting his own heart are very touching and sweet.

The sci fi is light but consistent and pretty well done. The laws of physics (within sci fi boundaries i.e., space travel must be feasible) seem to apply which is not always the case with SFR.

These are pretty hot stories as to the lovemaking element and pretty goofy but hey I accepted the snard in the first book and have just gone with the flow since then. Hey snard joke. Snicker.

I hope this isn't the end of the series.

Nice addition to this series which is a guilty pleasure for me. Come on the whole orgasmic snard thing is pretty goofy but hey I'm used to it. I've bought it this far so I'll keep on buying it. And it is a pleasant little sci fi world with interesting diverse aliens and a pretty good backstory. Still the gist of this story is not really that. The author does a pretty good job of bringing to life two damaged people. Can a man who was a prostitute learn to settle with just one woman? Can he get over having a woman he cared for killed because of him? I can totally forgive him for the prostitution since they were primarily concerned with recreating his race. The heroine is damaged too being someone who boys/men never liked so she had a love sense of self esteem.

The author did some great research on horses and dressage or else she is a horse person. I appreciate that she got the details right and that her heroine thought the horse's odd behavior was odd.

Enjoyed it.

One of my favorites of this series. The plot was fairly tightly focused on the relationship between the hero and the heroine. There wasn't a lot of the over arcing story here which suited me. I don't mind an over arcing story but I like ones where that element doesn't take over. I liked the hero who thought he was nothing much and I liked the heroine too but felt her motivation wasn't as strong. By the time she was 30 she should have been strong enough not to be under her father's thumb since he really didn't treat her that badly.

I like the on the road survival trope and that was pretty well done here, although maybe not up to [a:Andre Norton|4766|Andre Norton|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1202314064p2/4766.jpg] standards. :-) I did feel like the conflict centering around each of them feeling unworthy and scared to tell each other they loved each other went on a bit too long. Minor point though.

I enjoyed it.
