Here's what I wrote in 2013 about this read: "A true story of friendship between kindred spirits. Main story line is friendship between two women, secondary is the love of a dog and her master. Very nice and sparked interest in Caroline Knapp since both she and the author were also recovered alcoholics." Quotations in the comments section are my exact kindle highlights (other than the last one which I found on goodreads and it's a good one).

Not Good! Did not finish. Depressing and slow.

A tender memoir about friendship between two woman. Both had weaknesses they tried to conquer with varying success. I imagine this book is a popular book club choice. I listened to the audio version read by Joyce Bean, who did a nice job narrating, complete with a hint of a Texas accent.
