(meer)

Neuromuscular techniques (NMT) offer an efficient and proven method of soft tissue manipulation involving thumb/finger application. They can be used to asses and treat myofascial dysfunction--to improve general function, to release muscular tension and to assist in the elimination of myofascial trigger point activity.Local soft tissue dysfunction has a significant relationship to pain and more general musculoskeletal dysfunction; NMT can be usd to assess such changes and to treat and normalise hypertonicity and/or fibrotic changes. It can also be applied to prepare joints for subsequent manipulative attention.Highly illustated with line drawings ans 2-color digrams, this text describes and excellent treatment tool which will expand the practice of physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and all massage therapists. No other text is available which describes NMT soley and in such authoritative depth.… (meer)

Positional Release Techniques (PRT) are gentle manual treatments for muscle pain and spasm which involve resetting muscle tone and enhancing circulation. They are amongst the easiest soft tissue techniques to learn and the most useful to practice. The value and importance of PRT lie in their noninvasive nature, their ease of application, and their potential for instant response in cases of acute spasm and pain. They also allow chronically tense tissues to relax and thereby be used as part of integrated therapeutic interventions which employ other soft tissue and joint normalization procedures.… (meer)

The theory and practice are described within the context of the normal anatomy and physiology of the related structures. Step-by-step protocols are given for each muscle to be treated and particular reference is made to the treatment of trigger points. The text is supplemented with numerous two-colour illustrations which make the anatomy and techniques described easier to understand.… (meer)
