An interesting book on how the British colonial legacy has impacted Indian historiography. Particularly the Aryan invasion hypothesis is criticized and seen as a mistaken idea based on very meagre historical evidence which was used as a legitimizing ideology for colonial rule. I think the author goes into too much detail when he discusses various 19th century racial theories while the general structure of the argument remains a bit muddled. But this book was still worth reading.
