This book contained mostly visual depictions of animals grouped on each pair of pages by a particular physical attribute. It began with a description of the earth's evolution and a timeline depicting the various eras represented in the book. Following the introduction, each pair of pages shows a group of animals based on a physical attribute, describes the attribute and its function (for instance, a tail that helps the animals to balance), and lists the name of the animals and the era in which the animal lives. The pictures are realistic, colorful drawings. Because the animals bear so many similarities, yet many exist so many eras apart, there is an implicit sense of evolution throughout the book.… (meer)
