No Way Home: A Time Travel Novel of Adventure and Survival (A Christine Stewart Time Travel Adventure Book 1), my first read from author Christy Cooper-Burnett. How long is your TBR list? I received a free Kindle copy of this book back on July 27, 2020, added it to my TBR list back on December 5, 2021. I added Finding Home: A Time Travel Historical Adventure (A Christine Stewart Time Travel Adventure Book 2) on December 5, 2021 and promptly lost track of both. On September 6th of this year I became aware of Escaping Home: A Time Travel Historical Adventure (A Christine Stewart Time Travel Adventure Book 3), added it to my TBR list & rediscovered the first 2 books. My mistake! An enjoyable 247 page time travel thriller. “I'm voluntarily leaving a review of it." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author on to book 2. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).… (meer)

Great idea. Started strong but finished weak. I still enjoyed the story and don't regret the purchase, but I am a sucker for time travel stories.

Time travels: always fun. This one was too, but could have been better.

First: it was the third volume in the series of which I haven't read the first two volumes. It was possible to read it without knowledge of the other books.

Cyber Criminal Enforcement Agent Christine Stewart wants to keep her family and friends safe. United States anno 2072 is not a safe place to live, because the country is on the brink of war.
She and her colleagues devise a plan in which the families go to the past, United States, Alexandria, Virgina 1791.
Fun, ok, interesting ok, but after five chapters I went to the last chapter to decide whether I wanted to go on, and it took me two more chapters to find out why I didn't really like it.
There was no pace, chapter after chapter preparations for the trip, than chapter after chapter literally building of the community in the past. Which was kind of boring.
The pace came when a rogue agent came out of USA 2072 to USA 1791 to steal valuable items. Then it changed and finally it was good enough to keep reading till to late in the night.
The ending, in USA 1910, was too short.

Disclaimer: I got this book in the Librarything Early Reviewers

I didn't finish. I read 22%. The idea seems great except that it ignores the very obvious fact that by being, in such a large group, in the past, they are very likely to change things. It would have been different if the group had acknowledged this and mitigated the risk or decided they just didn't care as long as they were saving themselves.

The writing is very very choppy and sounds like you are reading directions. There is very little in the way of smooth flow. I'm not sure how to describe it, but I think these two things kept me from finishing. I usually really like time travel books and I do think it is hard to do well. There is always a bit of suspended belief but this one asks for too much of that.… (meer)
