Delightful descriptions of food. Good fun, nice light read. Borrowed from Aunt Julie, who remembered I had been to Greece.

I recommend this gentle and wise summer read. I enjoyed the descriptions of the people on the small Greek island and their culture and traditions. The plot was psychologically believable I loved the protagonist, Daphne, because of her imperfections and her willingness to change her course. Bring this book to the beach! You won't be sorry!

. This is a heartwarming family story of tragedy, forgiveness, and the power of kindness. Bestselling author, Karen Abbott, describes it as an engrossing peek into a little-known chapter of World War II and one family’s harrowing tale of finding the lost pieces of its own history. It is a fascinating and beautifully told tale.… (meer)

PHENOMENAL. Corporon is a magical weaver of words and her brain is her loom. She covers the reader with layers of comfort, awe, sadness and smiles of the heart.
The fluidity of the flow of time periods is done with enviable ease.....not all writers have mastered THAT trick!
It all started with the authors earlier novel of her grandmothers life, during WW2 on the Greek island of Erikousa. Her association with a jewish family hiding out there. I really enjoyed it, but THIS book? It's the story of Yvette Corporons search for the descendants of that family, the uphill climb, the people she met along the way, and the unsurmountable odds she faced to create a reunion of the past and present.
Written with such depth, and such heart, i believe she left a piece of herself behind in these written words.
BESHERT- divine destiny. My new favorite word.
