What an amazing testimony! Joe was in bad shape. He was 320 pounds, smoking, drinking, living the life. But, he was on high blood pressure meds and prednisone for a rare disease, urticaria, that just popped up in his early 30's. He developed large welts all over his body at any unexpected point in time and for unknown reasons. He felt he had one foot in the grave, just as I feel now at age 56, and decided to Reboot his body by solid juicing for the next 60 days. During this period , Joe lost 100 pounds, dropped all meds, and all symptoms of his urticaria disappeared completely. This is his story, and he takes the guess work out and shows you exactly how-to Reboot your body on a 3, 5, 10, or 15-day juice fast. Only shop for about 3 days of fresh juice at a time...5 at the most. That's probably all you will have room for in the fridge. Be sure to watch his documentary, "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead" for amazing stories of inspiration and more juice recipes.

Joe brings his juicer with him on road trips and juices in the back of his vehicle using some kind of battery charger and a Breville juicer. He doesn't have to cut up his veggies. It seems to run fast, and he does mention that you can rejuice your pulp if it seems wet.... as may not be the best juicer.

He doesn't recommend fasting for more than 15 days without working with your doctor. As long as you juice 80% vegetables to 20% fruits, and juice a wide variety of colors, fifteen days is safe enough that the lower protein shouldn't be a problem. But, if you go longer, then you should add a pea protein drink to your daily diet as well.

The only vitamins you can continue to take if you'd like is vitamin D3 and a B12. No other non-prescription vitamin or drug should be taken. Continue your prescription drugs but keep close contact with your doctor. Remember, you will be consuming a much larger concentration of micronutrients in the form of juice from a much larger amount of fruits and vegetables that would be impossible to eat in whole form. CONCENTRATED!

On a Reboot juice fast, you should be drinking 4-6 (16-20 oz) servings daily...more if you are still hungry, and at least 64 oz other fluids:

- 1 c. hot water with lemon/ginger first thing EVERY morning (put slice of lemon and slice of ginger in mug, pour boiling water over and let steep 3-5 min)
- 2 glasses (16 oz) coconut water for mid-morning snack [adds electrolytes]
- 4 glasses (16 oz) water
- 1 c. Herbal tea at bedtime

"Joe's Mean Green", p. 182 (green juice) could be a daily alkaline green juice perfect for Ben and his gout and me and my bad digestive system. This makes 2 servings:

2 cucumbers
8 celery sticks
4 apples
16 kale leaves
1 lemon
2" piece fresh ginger root

An easy, short read. Could use more citations and an educated tone but, for the record, I think he's got something here. The problem isn't 100% the lack of movement. Just look up Sugar on TED's website and see what other MD's have to say about the topic. *

* And I can say that because I crashed and burned in December and went back to sugar again. But I got rid of it last week. Because it's okay to be imperfect.

"Juice It to Lose It" by Joe Cross

My Thoughts....

I found this one interesting novel that can help one at losing weight with what is best to eat and even drink using the juicer. The explanations of what is going on with your body was very well explained especially with all of the processed foods that we have to choose from. The five day plan with the walks and talks that are presented are very well addressed in a very simple and easy to follow plan. So, there is only one way to do this and that is start and see the pounds falling off.… (meer)

A good introduction to juicing with some very helpful information, especially for beginners. There's a guide on how to pick the produce, as well as how to clean and store fruits and veggies. Most of the recipes are for juicing, but the author also includes some recipes for smoothies, salads, soups, and sides/snacks. I personally tried the kale chips and it's delicious and easy. There's also some ideas on how to use any pulp left over from juicing. Nutritional value is listed for all recipes. A good intro for anyone interested in eating healthier.
