I must say that whenever I see a book that claims that its content is "for dummies," it instantly lowers my expectations of the book. However, this book, covering the Visual Basic for Applications (the macro language for Microsoft Office, et al), actually disappointed me. The author seemed to sacrifice actual learning opportunities for the sake of making light of how strange computers were (in fact, he didn't even understand that the round command rounded to the evens with 5!). For a computer savvy person like me trying to learn VBA, this book was effectively worthless, as it taught me nothing I didn't already know, or explained things in such a simplistic way that it was beyond the understanding of anyone with an IQ with two or more digits. If you need to learn VBA, I'd suggest going with a book that doesn't insult the reader with the title, or using the online material provided by Microsoft (such as the MSDN). I learned a whole lot more through those methods than I even attempted to learn from this book after reading it cover to cover, including the appendix included on a CD-ROM.… (meer)
