Vague trite attempt at multiculturalism (Indian girl's true love is with a white boy, not her "perfect" Indian boyfriend. Best Friend/Cousin (also Indian) is married to a nice Jewish boy.), I'm not terribly sure what the hell this book is about. Is about her identity of being an Indian woman in predominately white male field? Nope. Is it about the search for what makes her happy? Nope. Is it about blended families? Nope. Is it about growing up and/or finding one's self? Er nope. It is, succinctly, a mess. You can't root for the character, you aren't sure if you love her or hate her, there are no real villians in the piece, so what's the point?

Good question.

Not the best chick-lit I've ever read, not the worst. Angie is a cute character, in fact all of the character are nicely developed, and most are enjoyable. (Can't say I warmed up to Kirk's parents though!) I did want to know Angie's best friend Grace more deeply than I did in this book -- but that may be intentional as she's the lead character in the author's next book.

Emma's having trouble coping with the fact that her boyfriend has left New York for LA, with no invitation to her and no intention of returning. That's a break-up, right? Well, Emma's having a hard time facing that fact.

The story follows Emma and her friends Jade and Alyssa through Emma's recovery, career crises, and the usual "chick-lit" in NYC stuff. Enjoyed it.

Emma's comfortable relationship is over when her boyfriend moves to California for a job. This would be difficult for any person to go through. The beginning of the book focuses on this concept for a great deal of time. It has many of the stereotypical scenarios for a single girl going through this. I kept expecting something much more interesting to occur but it never really got there.
