Deceptively simple story of a dragon with an injury, cured by a doctor, and then they all go to a party. What stands out about this book is the way it subverts racist and sexist expectations without making a big scene about it. Nurse Benjamin is a man; the doctor is a woman and a person of color; a character has two moms. But the story isn't about any of those things -- it's just about the kinds of absurd things kids like, like dragons with zippers in their tails.
The story in the 1995 2nd edition of this title contains a fantasy animal character "Lucy" with two female parents "Mommy" and "Mama" while the 1971 1st edition is almost a completely different story and has no mention of two mothers.
