A nine year old boy runs into the ocean and drowns. Why? Twenty years later, his sister wants to find out why. A retired police officer befriends her and they start to investigate.
“Your brother, alone on a beach. A man who went in after him. A center no one seems to want to talk about. What the hell happened here?”
“Justice, Amanda was learning, was a concept, not a cure.”
This is a great read! I loved the chapters about Dennis! Except, of course, for the therapy treatment called ‘holding time’. That was horrific. I have really become a big fan of Rene Denfeld and have enjoyed all of the books I've read of hers! This one is no exception! The writing definitely had a hold on me and it was super hard to put the book down! There is some sort of magical quality in her stories that really resonate with me. Bravo!
