It’s bedtime for Little Wolf. Big Wolf sits him on his knee and Little Wolf asks for a good-night song. So Big Wolf sings a silly song that recounts the various things that wolves do. Little Wolf giggles and asks Big Wolf to sing some more. So he does.

Suddenly . . . .

There’s a rustling and a growling in the bushes behind them.

Then . . . .

There’s a scritching and a scratching in the bushes behind them.

What can it be?

In the stanzas of a silly bedtime song, this colorfully-illustrated story lists some wolf-traits that young readers may or may not know. More importantly, they are certain to be especially pleased that Daddy Wolf is telling Little Wolf the bedtime story. This, then, could become a special book for fathers to share with their children. However, as the story plays out, Little Wolf interacts with both his parents and the story clearly shows the love between father, mother, and child. Young readers may want to share this sweet bedtime tale with their parents, just like Little Wolf.

Highly recommended.

This book is a story about a teacher and two of her students who spend the summer on a ranch. It is a story about friendship, adventure, and some good old west fun. I think this would be a fun picture book that would tie in nicely with a unit about the Old West. It could also be used on animal unit because horses are a big part of this book.

Charlene was always up while everyone else was sleeping. Charlene did not want to miss anything by going to bed early. She was an night owl! Charlene's nephew came to visit and they would do different things together at night. Charlene and William would stay up all night because they would be sharing stories. When William is gone Charlene always writes to him about what he is missing.
I would ask the children what is a night owl, and then explain to them at an owl is a animal that sleeps in the day and stays up at night. That's why Charlene was called a night owl.… (meer)

Charlene is a lady who loves nighttime. She is the only one in her neighborhood who is up all night. While everyone else sleeps, she bakes, goes for walks, and picks raspberries. She feels that if she goes to sleep early, she may miss out on something. When her nephew visits, he also stays up late and they have picnics late at night. When he goes back home, they write letters to each other about what they will do at night the next time he visits. The story is easy to read and the pictures helps children to better understand what is happening.… (meer)
