After making her stage debut in Joe Papp's production of Pericles at the Delacorte Theatre, she acted Off Broadway in All My Sons at the Roundabout and in Jack Heifner's Vanities—for ages. By the time Vanities finally closed, she had a lot of people she wanted to kill and, hence, wrote her debut mystery, Murder on Cue on a ‘grant' from the N.Y. State Dept. of Labor.

While writing her novels, Jane managed Murder Ink, the flagship mystery bookstore, for eight years. In Oct. of 1999, Jane became the Senior Editor of the Mystery Guild Book Club. In 2005, she was made Editor-in-Chef, a position she held until December of 2012.

good -

From the author of Murder on Cue and Dead Pan comes another great murder mystery starring Jocelyn O'Roarke, actress/singer/sleuth. This time a caustic critic has been murdered and O'Roarke must discern whom among his many detractors was angry enough to deliver the final cut.

Josh O'Roarke mystery actress/det.
good in Hollywood

New York City has dried up for Jocelyn “Josh” O’Roarke. Her career on the stage has stalled. Her relationship with NYPD lieutenant Phillip Gerrard is through. She needs a way out, and a supporting role in a Hollywood TV movie seems like just the thing. When Buddy Banks, the production’s photography director and Ginger’s surrogate father, is murdered in a darkroom, Josh is pressed once again to put her sleuthing skills to use.… (meer)
