This is a decent enough book, and I do recognize a lot of the behaviours that can derail a CEO. I have seen this in some of the CEOs I have worked with, but they have not been derailed! This book does do us a good service in listing down some of these attributes, but the authors could have gone a bit deeper. While they decried the fact that many CEOs rely on anecdote, the fact is, so did they! Anecdotes and stories are powerful things, and can reveal much more than we believe.

The other issue that I have with this book, and this is no fault of the authors, is that it is very American, very Western. An Asian reader should be wary of this fact, as we come from a different cultural context, and the organisations we work in are at a different stage in development, and will follow different paths as well.… (meer)
