Besides being a compilation of characters from earlier novels reappearing later in novels of other authors, this is a great reprise of series that have appeared over the years. I could use this as a good reference book, particularly for filling in Common Knowledge in Librarything. The book is arranged by genre and then author, with a short bio, and then a listing of that author's significant personages that appear in more than one book, followed by listings of books by oher authors with the same personage. Some of these are properly termed as pastiches, which the author fully appreciates.… (meer)

A companion volume to "100 Most Popular Genre Fiction Authors." Another great ready reference volume for questions concerning which author wrote what book and when. Together, these books could form the core of a Reader's Advisory reference collection.
This is a must have for anyone staffing the reference desk of a busy urban library. Patrons are always asking who wrote what and in what order; this book handily answers those types of queries. A very handy volume.
